Church (S)hopping

Yesterday afternoon I had a great conversation with a newer couple to our church and they really encouraged me. They have had many experiences with churches in different communities and when they visited New Community they knew what they were seeking. In previous churches that they visited they were actually ignored several times. When they attended NC3 they were greeted by many people and that first impression was what got them hooked. We talk a lot about the importance of those personal encounters and it was great to have this confirmed by people who have seen both sides of this coin.

If you are part of New Community, thanks for doing your part to talk to people you don't already know. And we could use your help on our First Impression team (parking lot, greeting, coffee prep, guest services). Let me know where you would love to serve. If you are part of another church, be sure you are doing all you can to make new people feel welcomed and comfortable. Your encounter may mean the difference between someone staying and hearing about God and His love, or walking away and never coming back. Never underestimate the impact you have on the church.

What do you look for in a church? What things do you appreciate about New Community? Let me know what you think.
