"705" Day 1 Aftermath

Seems like only yesterday things looked like they'd never change...

and now you're faced with incredible new beginnings.

Life's turnarounds can be extraordinary.

You may never completely forget the past,

but it's nice to look back on it from the comfort of a new today.

I received these words in a card from a friend this week. She knows some of the details of the Yandell and New Community stories. This card really speaks to the things going on in my heart this week. We moved through some very painful stuff way back in the late 90's and early 00's, and we will never be able to erase those memories. But last Sunday goes a long way toward easing the relational aches and pains we faced. NC3 at "705" is a definite high in my life right now.

I am surrounded by a group of crazy, loving, caring, concerned, spiritually-seeking, motivated, encouraging (and did I say crazy?) Christ-followers and that makes every day an adventure and a new beginning. I love the thought that our God is a God of New Beginnings. Every day we get to start over. Every day New Community gets the opportunity to introduce someone to Jesus. Can it ever get any better than that? I am so ready for Week 2!!! See you Sunday.

I think we have a few former cathloics (Welcome).

I would say we have more than a few former Catholics (and Methodists and Lutherans and Nazarenes and Baptists and Free-thinkers and the list could go on). It is great that we worship a God who doesn't look at those names we put on ourselves. He only sees the spirit within us. I am glad you feel welcome at New Community. We love it here, too.

All of those things cannot be what defines us. We are followers of Christ. Christ's intentions were never for division and segregations, we are all part of a body, one body. I pray that we can continue to grow, and that individually we can continue to grow.
